Activity Director—Basic


This course is designed to train individuals desiring to become an activity director in healthcare or healthcare-related settings. Activity directors for adult care homes are required by the North Carolina Division of Facility Services to complete a minimum of 50 hours in an approved activity director course. Activity directors for nursing facilities are required to complete the 50-hour basic course with an additional minimum of 10 hours in documentation, including the assessment and planning process. This course is the first in a series of courses that could lead to national certification as an activity professional.

Requirements: (Bring all of the following to register.)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Driver's license
  • $60 (cash in exact amount, check, credit card, or approved program voucher)
Total hours: 60  
There is a class size limit of 12 students. Students will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Only students with all documents and payment will be registered.
