Medical Transcription


This course is designed to teach students to accurately and efficiently transcribe medical terms and physician dictation. Course topics include understanding report formats for chart notes, history and physicals, letters, and discharge summaries. Class will begin with a detailed review of medical terminology and then proceed to transcription. Students will learn to increase speed with the use of simulations of physician dictation.

Students must have taken a medical terminology class or work in health care in order to take this class. Successful completion of a keyboarding course or experience in keyboarding recommended.

For the student who wishes to work in a medical records department or at home, this class is a must!
