Nurse Assistant Level I
This course consists of 175 hours, which includes 125 hours of lecture, lab and test preparation as well as 50 hours of clinical experience in a long term care facility.
In this course the student will learn basic nursing skills and providing personal care such as vital signs, bed making, bathing, dressing and feeding those who need assistance. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the graduate will receive a Certificate of Completion and may then apply to take NNAAP State Exam through NACES. This exam is an additional cost of $92. Once the student has successfully completed the State Exam, they will be listed on the NCNA I Registry.
Other costs associated with this course are uniforms, ID tag and textbook. A Criminal Background Check will be completed and charged to the student at a rate of $20 for those who have lived in NC for the past seven years or $30 for those who have lived outside of NC at any time during the past seven years. Also, students will be required to show proof of immunizations in order to attend clinicals. Students will be made aware of which immunizations at registration.
Students must provide a United States High School diploma or GED, driver’s license, social security card and $83 on the day of registration. Those without a diploma or GED must contact Rita Phillips at 704-991-0367 to schedule an appointment for a reading assessment.
