This course consists of 175 hours, which include 95 hours of lecture/lab and competency testing and 80 hours of clinical experience.
Students will learn to set up oxygen, complete dressing changes, assist with IV therapy, administer tube feedings, suction patients, perform trach care, perform catheter insertions and ostomy care, and provide care for patients with impactions.
In order to pass the course, students must meet attendance requirements, pass the final written exam and competency testing, and successfully complete the skill modules mandated by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Requirements: Student must provide proof of US high school diploma or GED and must be listed on the NA I registry in good standing throughout the duration of the course. Those without a US diploma or GED must contact Rita Walter at (704) 991-0367 to schedule an appointment for a reading assessment.
