Business Office—Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  When is my tuition payment due?
A:  Payment for tuition and fees is due at the time of registration or by the posted due date.  If the student is covered by a third-party sponsor or financial aid, a sponsor’s authorization or approved financial aid should be in the Business Office at the time of registration. Classes that are not paid by the due dates are subject to deletion.

Q:  Where and how do I pay for tuition?
A:  Your tuition and fees can be paid in the Business Office located in Room 125 on the first floor of the Patterson Building on the Albemarle Campus.  You may also make payment at the Crutchfield Campus in Locust.  You can pay your account with cash, personal check or money order made payable to Stanly Community College, or by credit card (VISA or MasterCard).  The Business Office does not accept checks written in excess of the amount due.  If you would like to make a credit card payment over the telephone, you can do so by calling the Business Office at (704) 991-0228.

Q:  Does the College have a payment plan?
A:  The College does offer a deferred payment plan in the fall and spring semesters only.  It is offered to students with a tuition/fee charge of more than $200.  There is an information brochure available in the Business Office that contains an agreement form that must be signed by the student at the time of registration.  A one-time non-refundable processing fee of $25 is charged to the student for the plan.  The tuition/fee balance is divided into three payments.  The first payment plus the $25 processing fee is due at the time of registration.  The next two payments will be due on the dates printed in the brochure.

Q:  If I am a financial aid or sponsored student, when can I go to the Bookstore and charge my books?
A:  Financial aid/sponsorship book charge dates are determined and posted by the Business Office and the Financial Aid Office each semester.  These dates are also posted in the Bookstore.  You should have your registration schedule when you go to the Bookstore to assist the store personnel in determining the books you will need.

Q:  How and when do I get a refund for classes I dropped or were cancelled by the College?
A:  After the proper paperwork/information has been received in the Business Office, a refund will be generated after approximately two weeks.  A check will be mailed to the address that is on file for the student.

Q:  When is financial aid disbursement day and how do I get my check?
A:  The dates for financial aid disbursement are determined and posted/distributed by the Business Office and the Financial Aid Office for each semester.  The checks may be picked up in person in the Business Office by the student on those dates.  A photo ID and signature are required to pick up the check.  Any financial aid checks not picked up within three business days will be mailed to the address on file for the student.
