OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

Teach classroom sessions, conduct research in subject issues and industry trends, evaluate student progress, and develop instructional plans.  Review and request new materials, maintain records, and prepare a variety of reports as requested.  Advise students as necessary.

WORK PERFORMED:

Teach classes as assigned each semester, prepare syllabi and distribute appropriately, evaluate students, and participate in course improvements.  Teaching assignments will include courses at the main campus, Crutchfield Education Center, Albemarle Correctional Institute, and the Middle College at South Stanly High School.

Work during peak allocation hours at Crutchfield Education Center to assist as needed.

Create, administer, grade, and maintain records for exams, projects, activities, and reports for evaluation of students in each course.

Maintain proficiency with functions of Datatel and Webadvisor in order to effectively assist students.

Advise students on a bi-semester basis in relation to academic progress.

Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audio-visual aids, support, and equipment needs.

Participate in the revision process as needed for course(s) or curricula in field or related areas.

Participate in professional organizations, attend conferences and workshops as appropriate, and maintain professional contacts with instructors in similar instructional areas on other campuses and in area high schools.

Participate in student recruitment – create brochures and speak to groups regarding programs offered at Crutchfield Education Center.

Actively participate in student retention by introducing the Student Success Center (Albemarle) or the Student Resource Center (Locust) activities to the students, referring students to the SCC/SRC.

Serve on a variety of campus committees and participate in campus activities.

Establish industry contacts and make arrangements for guest speakers, field trips, etc.

Maintain office hours as part of the weekly workload.

Participate in registration, pre-registration, and new student orientation activities.

Review and recommend texts for use in program courses, within established guidelines.

Assist students with career opportunities in conjunction with Student Development.

Work with staff in Small Business Center/Continuing Education to plan seminars/workshops for lifelong learning opportunities for current students and graduates.

Attend Crutchfield Council meetings.
 
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:  Masters Degree with 18 semester hours in Accounting.
