TEAS Information

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The test is intended for use primarily with adult nursing program applicant populations. The objectives assessed on TEAS® V are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level academic readiness of nursing program applicants.

All individuals preparing to take the TEAS®zz test must create an ATI account. Time Limit is 209 minutes. Four-option multiple-choice with 170 total questions. Calculators may NOT be used for the test. A study guide is available to assist students in preparing for the TEAS® exam. Contact the SCC bookstore for more details.

  • ATI is discontinuing the TEAS Version 4.0 and SCC will be using the newer 5.0 Version for nursing admission testing.  This change from Version 4.0 to Version 5.0 will begin with testing after the February 16, 2011 test date.
  • Any previous ATI TEAS Version 4.0 scores will not be utilized in the application process. Only the newer 5.0 Version will be utilized in an effort to maintain fair and level application requirements. If you have previously tested using Version 4.0, you will need to retest utilizing the Version 5.0.
  • This change will be in effect for all nursing options: ADN and LPN-ADN Option.
  • The ATI TEAS Version 5.0 will be kept on file for a period of 2 years. Scores over 2 years old will not be considered during the admission process.

Nursing applicants will be held accountable for this change.   SCC’s staff will be available for questions pertaining to this important change.
