SCC Represented in 2013 NCCCS Art Exhibition

art(January 30, 2013) The North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) has sponsored a statewide exhibition of artwork in their Raleigh headquarters since 1998. The artwork selected to be displayed is chosen on a local level by each of the 58 colleges in the NC system. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni of all North Carolina community colleges are encouraged to participate.

As this year marked the golden anniversary of the event, the theme was based on art that celebrated each college’s history. All types of media were accepted for consideration including paintings, drawings, graphic design, computer design and animation, photography, stained glass, weaving, woodcarving, metalwork, and sculpture.

The students chosen to represent SCC in the art exhibit, all of whom are enrolled in the SCC Digital Photography Certificate program, are Jackie Smith, Debra Edwards, and Ginny Dallaire. The fourth piece chosen belongs to Kristen Hines Baker, the Digital Photography instructor.

The above photos along with chosen artwork from all other NC community colleges will be on display in downtown Raleigh at the Caswell building. A virtual tour will also be available online after February of 2013.
