SCC Announces New Security & Loss Prevention Certificate

(April 3, 2013) According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, over 1.5 million robberies, burglaries, and larceny thefts took place in the United States in 2010. “The criminal landscape has changed since I was a Charlotte Police Officer,” explained Max Boylen, the program head for criminal justice technology at Stanly Community College (SCC). “Today, crime is a problem for business owners across the nation. Many business owners have hardened their targets by increasing security technology and personnel,” added Boylen.

SCC has recently launched a new certificate for individuals interested in the security and loss prevention field. “Students can start taking their classes in May and earn their credentials by fall, making them workforce ready for the holiday season,” added Boylen.

SCC will offer seated/online classes. Interested individuals can register by visiting the Albemarle or Crutchfield Education Center, or by registering online through WebAdvisor at
