Networking Presentation Held for WEBB Scholars

2013 Webb Scholars(November 5, 2013) The Crutchfield Family Foundation initiated the Dr. H.T. “Toby” Webb, Jr., Scholarship program in the spring of 2004. The scholarship program is called WEBB Scholars (Where Education Breaks down Barriers), and provides annual scholarships to twenty-five prospective male students at Stanly Community College (SCC).

On Monday, October 21, the WEBB scholars attended a networking presentation that was held in the Dennis Community Room on the Albemarle campus to meet their mentors and to enjoy food and fellowship. SCC President Dr. Brenda Kays welcomed the guests and introduced the new mentors for the program. A networking presentation was given by Thomas George, Director for SCC’s Small Business Center. “Our students must understand that their success is closely related to their ability to effectively network in their community. In some instances, this will mean the need to get out of their comfort zone and make connections that will lead to enduring and mutually beneficial relationships,” noted Mr. George.

The SCC Foundation offers students scholarship opportunities. Deadline for applying is April 15 each year. Please contact Melody Braswell, Financial Aid Liaison, at (704) 991-0154 or
