Career Fair Receives Excellent Response

Career Fair(March 4, 2014) Community College (SCC) held its annual Career Fair on Tuesday, February 25th in the Webb Student Center. Over two dozen local businesses and organizations participated in this year’s event. SCC students and alumni dressed in their most professional attire and had their resumes in hand, looking to make that first step toward a career.

SCC President Dr. Kays commented, “We are grateful for the support of the employers who attended this year’s career fair. Our students had a great opportunity to be exposed to local employers and network.”

Marcus Pryor, Assistant Dean of Students & Career Placement, stated, “The goal of an education is to find employment, and the best way of doing that is getting your name out. Helping our students interact with as many employers as possible increases their chances of landing a job, even if it isn’t in the industry they might anticipate.”

Moua, an Advertising & Graphic Design student at Stanly Community College, said that she appreciated the opportunity to make connections with a variety of employers at the career fair. “In this day and age of online applications, it’s hard to get your foot in the door. What a rare opportunity to have face-to-face contact with employers. Getting the chance to speak with people in person is a huge advantage,” said Angel.
