SECU’s Scholarship Recipients Announced

SECU Scholars(March 12, 2014) Stanly Community College (SCC) has announced the State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) Foundation's People Helping People scholarship recipients for spring 2014. Each semester, the SECU Foundation awards scholarships to student enrolled in a continuing education program at Stanly Community College. This program was established by the SECU Foundation in 2012 to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to gain new and/or upgrade current job-related skills.

In order for a student to be considered, he or she must be enrolled in a short-term training program which leads to a state-regulated or industry-recognized credential that is offered through continuing education. This semester’s scholarship recipients are: Jeannie Lewis, Medical Billing & Coding; Nathan Balfrey, Welding; Ben Wilson, Welding; Justin Alcott, Autobody; LaKesha Brown, Medical Billing & Coding; and Nacole Paetz, Medical Billing & Coding.

Kelly Caudle, SCC SECU Advisory Board Member noted, “SCC is grateful for the SECU scholarship program that provides assistance to our talented students who show outstanding promise and who otherwise may not be able to attend SCC.”
