Area High School Students Complete Nurse Aide Training

CCP Nurse Aide Students(May 15th, 2014) Eighteen students from South Stanly, West Stanly and Albemarle high schools recently completed a Nurse Aide (NA) – Level 1 program through Stanly Community College (SCC).

This 160 –hour curriculum course is offered by the SCC Career and College Promise program and was held at Albemarle High School. The program was made up of classroom, lab, and clinical components and students had to successfully complete each component to be considered for course completion. These students will be required to take the NA- 1 state exam in the near future to become Certified Nurse Aides.

Career and College Promise (CCP) at Stanly Community College offers tuition free courses for career and technical education pathways the lead to credits used towards certificates, diplomas and degrees. This program is open to high school juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The College is planning to offer a healthcare pathway which will include the NA-1, NA-2, Home Care Nurse Aide Program, and the Geri-Aide Program slated to begin in the fall.
