Office Clerk Training Offered through JobsNOW

sccnewsicon(March 8, 2010) Stanly Community College (SCC) is now offering a training program through the JobsNOW “12 in 6” initiative that will provide students knowledge and skills in the area of Office Clerk. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of general office clerks is expected to grow 16% by 2016.

Courses in this program include: Office Computer Systems, Office Clerk I, Human Resource Development, and the Career Readiness Certificate. Students will learn Microsoft Office 2007, which consists of Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. Accounting skills will be taught using the QuickBooks software. Other topics will involve Customer Service, Lean Office, Oral and Written Communications and Safety Training.

JobsNOW “12 in 6” is a collaborative effort between the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Development, Centralina Workforce Development Board, and the North Carolina Community College System. This program is subsidized under the Workforce Investment Act through funds by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
