Stanly Community College (SCC) is underway with its second annual Operation “Thank you, Soldier!” to honor the men and women of the armed forces. There will be 100 care packages shipped on September 8th to those deployed overseas.
Students, faculty and staff will work with community donors to let our service men and women know we are thinking about them. Join the college in saying thank you to those who serve on our behalves by sponsoring a box or donating some much needed items for care packages.
SCC has created a variety of ways to show our appreciation of those who protect us. For those who wish to help, you can sponsor a box for $12.95 to cover shipping costs or donate any of the following items: food items such as Ramen Noodles, Pringles, chewing gum, mints, sunflower seeds, individually packaged cookies, microwave popcorn and powdered drink mixes; game items such as playing cards, silly string, dice, hacky sack and word puzzle books; stationary items such as pens, pencils, paper and envelopes; medical items such as band-aids, heat patches, sun block and hand sanitizer; toiletry items such as soap, lotion, toothpaste/toothbrushes, shampoo/conditioner and deodorant.
If you have a soldier or loved one who will be serving overseas in September, please send us his or her address so we can send them a care package. Feel free to include a note of thanks and encouragement to the soldier who will receive your gift.
