SCC President Speaks to a Full Auditorium During Student Orientation
orientation2010(July 12, 2010) Hundreds of students flooded to the Albemarle campus last Thursday during the annual student orientation. Every year, incoming students learn about their programs of study, and the many resources that are available for them at Stanly Community College (SCC).

Robin McCree, Executive Vice President of Students and Academic Affairs, explained that nearly 1,700 students have been enrolled so far for the fall semester, an unparalleled number this early in the enrollment process. “I want to thank our faculty and staff for their hard work in preparing the orientations. This is the first time the college has held an orientation in early July and it turned out to be a great success.”

SCC’s orientations are designed to give new students tips and advice to help them succeed in college. It is also a great opportunity for them to meet other first-year students and their future instructors.

“Coming to college can be exciting and challenging,” notes SCC president Dr. Michael Taylor. “We want to encourage new students to enjoy their educational journey while they attend SCC. Our faculty and staff want to help students enjoy this beginning and will do everything they can to support students throughout their learning experience.”

Stanly Community College offers more than 26-degree programs, 50-certificates, and a variety of diplomas. SCC has always been at the forefront of online education, offering classes to students nationwide. Nearly 30% of our students obtain their education online.

Stanly Community College will continue to register students for fall semester until August 12th.
