VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage

Course Description:

This on-line training course explores installation, configuration, and management of VMware® vSphere™, which consists of VMware ESXi™ and VMware vCenter™ Server. Upon completion of this course, the student can take the examination to become a VMware Certified Professional. The course is based on ESXi 5.1, and vCenter Server 5.1.

Suggested experience or classes taken:

• System administration experience on Microsoft Windows or Linux operating system.

  • NOS120 – Linux/UNIX Single User
  • NOS130 - Windows Single User
  • Class meetings: 80 hours – Online class

Course Outline:

At the end of the course, you should gain an understanding of the functionality in VMware vSphere 5 and be able to:

  • Install and configure ESXi
  • Install and configure vCenter Server
  • Configure and manage ESXi networking and storage using vCenter Server
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines
  • Manage user access to the VMware infrastructure Increase scalability using vCenter Server
  • Monitor resource usage using vCenter Server
  • Manage higher availability and data protection using vCenter Server

Grading: Students will receive a “S” Satisfactory if they attend 80% of the total course hours and meet course requirements as established by instructor or a “U” Unsatisfactory if are absent in excess of 20% of total course hours or fail to meet course requirements as established by instructor.
