Activity Professional - Adult Care
The Activity Professional – Adult Care course is designed to train individuals desiring to become an activities assistant, coordinator, or director in healthcare or healthcare-related settings. Activity directors for adult care homes are required by the North Carolina Division of Facility Services to complete a minimum of 50 hours in an approved activity director course plus a minimum of 10 additional hours in documentation, including the assessment and planning process. This course is the first in a series of courses that lead to national certification as an activity professional.
This class is 60 hours in length. Precisely 30 hours of instruction is online. The remaining 30 hours are in a traditional classroom setting.
Registration is on a first-come, first serve basis, and can be completed online, by phone, or in person.

- Textbook is required and will be available at the SCC Bookstore during semesters when this course is offered
Requirements (Successful registrants must bring these items to the first day of class.)
- High school diploma or GED or evaluated non-US High School Diploma and Reading Assessment at 11th grade reading level
- Driver’s License or state ID
