  • Operate power equipment when installing and repairing poles, towers, and lines
  • Follow safety standards and procedures

Course topics include:

  • Basic elements of electricity
  • Overhead pole and electrical line construction
  • Safety codes and applications
  • Electric power system, transformer and meter installations
  • Exploration of underground electrical distribution

Upon completion, individuals will possess the necessary skills for employment in various electrical utility industries.

There are three components to this program:

  1. The electrical lineman training
  2. Commercial Driver's License
  3. Career Readiness Certificate

The first group will start the electrical lineman training on January 15 and meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an hour for lunch.

This program will meet for 8 weeks, 7 hours a day, and 4 days per week, for a total number of 224 hours. During the 8 week course, Fridays will be used for students to complete the CDL and CRC training.

These two sessions will total 96 hours, 12 hours CDL and 84 hours CRC, some of which will be online and the remainder in the classroom.

The CDL portion of the class will not prepare a student to become a truck driver making long hauls with 18-wheelers. The CDL portion of our training will prepare a student to take the test for a class B CDL. Much of the CDL training is focused on the pre-inspection.
