Learning Resources Center—Online Databases

Please note: Some of these databases cannot be accessed from a computer off the SCC campus without a password. Scroll down the page to view each database and a brief description.


Online Catalog
WebPAC is an online catalog for the Stanly Community College LRC. It allows searching of the collection, placing items on hold at this or other community college libraries, and checking your account status. It is accessible on or off campus.

WebPAC also provides access to CCLINC (Community College Libraries in NC). CCLINC is a shared catalog of over 40 North Carolina community college libraries with access to more than a million items.


NCLIVE
The goals for NCLIVE are:
  1. Universal access to core group of reference and research materials online in the form of full-text electronic information and indexes.
  2. Unlimited access to digital versions of important historical documents and state government information.
  3. Information to assist users in gaining access to print materials available in libraries statewide.
  4. Assistance from library staff members with skills to help people of all ages use these exciting resources.

Special note—Users must have a password to use NCLIVE off campus. The password may be obtained from an LRC staff member. Distance learning students may email Dee Estes, eestes7421@stanly.edu, or Mike Hicks, mhicks7497@stanly.edu, for a password. Student status must be verified before receiving a password.

SIRS Knowledge Source
SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS), a new resource from SIRS, provides an online search environment for SIRS popular reference databases: SIRS Researcher, SIRS Renaissance, and SIRS Government Reporter. Designed to enable successful searching across multiple databases, a single search locates pertinent full-text articles and graphics from all selected databases. SIRS is now available off campus. You can request an ID and password from an LRC staff member.
