Computer Information Technology

Computers are the backbone of our global society. Businesses, education and government agencies rely heavily on the use of computers.  As our society continues to embark on technology, a wide range of diverse career opportunities in the computer information technology industry will become available.  SCC offers a degree, diploma, and certificates in the Computer Information Technology program.

What does a computer information technology individual do?

After successful completion of our Computer Information Technology degree program, individuals will know and understand how to utilize the latest system software in the marketplace, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and business presentations.

Individuals also learn about programming, networking, system maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as technical support and training.  Students focus on effective oral and written communications and soft skills in the workplace.

What’s the job outlook?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, “Employment of computer and information systems managers is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014.”

Do you have the skills necessary?

If you possess strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities, this could be the career for you.  If you consider yourself a team player, you might enjoy this line of work.  Stanly Community College will teach you the technical skills that you need to enter the workplace.
