My associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Stanly Community College has proved invaluable in my career. After receiving my degree, I began work as an assistant at Badin Elementary School. For the last 23 years, I have used the skills and abilities I gained through SCC in a variety of ways.I recently returned to SCC for a Special Education certificate. I now work part time at Group Homes for the Autistic. Working with special needs children is a wonderful opportunity, an opportunity that I would not have if it were not for SCC.My education at Stanly Community College has allowed me to pursue my goals of working with children and being of service to others. SCC is a wonderful resource to everyone in our community.

Stanly Community College left an imprint on my education that I can never forget. It started when I enrolled in the college transfer program after graduating from Albemarle High School in 1993. When attending Stanly Community College, I enjoyed the school, the instructors, and the courses. My enjoyment of education and personal ambition led me to a four-year university (UNC—Charlotte with a B. A. in English) and eventually to my current profession, an English teacher in the Stanly County Schools.The two-year degree I hold from Stanly Community College still hangs proudly on my wall. I am an advocate for the schools and its offerings. Stanly Community College is truly one of the many gems of Stanly County.

For anyone looking to get a solid education at a reasonable price, I recommend Stanly Community College and all it has to offer. Also, I would like to encourage students to get involved—take an active role in the college and all it has to offer.
