Stanly Community College's Crutchfield Education Center was built out of necessity to serve the needs of our increasing student population, as well as the growing population of Western Stanly County.
Groundbreaking for Crutchfield took place in April 2002. Classes started in August 2003 (fall semester). The Crutchfield campus operates as a mini-college within a larger community college setting. It has 33,000 square feet of staff and faculty office space, a copy/fax/mail room, many large modern classrooms, computer labs, health services lab classrooms, a BLET training mini-gym, a very large community/conference room, a bookstore, a snack/vending area, a distance learning classroom, a media/resource center, and a full biology lab to help support our Health Services (Allied Health) students.
The Crutchfield Campus is designed to provide easy access not only to students in Western Stanly County, but to students from the surrounding counties as well. We are located on Highway 24/27 on the Cabarrus-Stanly County line, just 12 miles east of the 24/27 interchange on the I-485 outer belt and 15 miles west from our Albemarle campus. The Crutchfield campus is a convenient, easy drive for individuals from areas such as Midland, Mint Hill, Concord, Harrisburg, Mt. Pleasant, Monroe, and east/south Charlotte.
