Health Services—Associate Degree Nursing

Nursing PhotoThis is a good time to be a nurse. North Carolina is experiencing a nursing shortage and jobs are plentiful with good salaries and benefits. To help meet this need, SCC offers the nursing program at the Crutchfield campus in Locust, at the main campus in Albemarle, and a hybrid online section.

Sites used for clinical rotations cover a five-county area and allow students a wide range of experience in many different work settings. Along with clinical, you will have time in the nursing lab to practice your clinical skills prior to going into the clinical setting. Classes for the nursing program are held in the Eddins Building on the Albemarle campus, where the nursing faculty offices are located, and at the Cruchfeild Education Center in Locust. The online hybrid classes utilize WebCT in conjunction with video lectures. Graduates who are successful taking the licensure exam are offered jobs in various clinical settings such as: acute care in hospitals where they can work in medical-surgical, pediatric, maternity, and intensive care units; community nursing in home health agencies or hospice, physician offices, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities. This is a great profession for those who care.
