Last month I showed you how to sort your Start Menu listing and listings that you find in Internet Explorer. Continuing on that same theme, did you know that you can also sort lists in Microsoft Word?

Picture this .. you have a nice long bulleted list of items. You look at it and think "hmmmm, this would look sooooooo much better if it were in alphabetical order".

Don't retype!
Don't even think about dragging and dropping!

Instead, try this simple tip which requires that you select the list and use the Table Sort command.

  1. In a document in Microsoft Word, select the list you wish to sort.
  2. Click on the Table menu Sort command (you may have to double click the menu to see unused commands). This displays the Sort Text dialog box. The default setting is to sort by paragraphs (that's anywhere that you hit Enter) in ascending order.
  3. Change default settings if necessary.
  4. Click OK How about that?

A perfectly sorted list! This tip works with numbers too!
