Did you ever wonder how those programs at the top left of your Start menu achieved such notoriety? The answer is simple .. they are "pinned" there. Pinning a program to your start menu means that it is available more quickly than opening it from the All Programs menu. Pinned programs are typically those programs that you use most often.

Here's how you go about pinning a program to the start menu:

  1. Click on Start and then on All Programs (this displays a listing of all of the programs on your computer)
  2. Right click on the program that you wish to pin to the start menu
  3. Choose Pin to Start Menu command from the pop up menu

That's it! The selected program icon is now pinned to the upper left side of your Start menu. Should you wish to UNpin it, just RIGHT click on it and choose Remove from This List.
