SCC Celebrates Adult High School Graduates

(May 13, 2008) Stanly Community College’s (SCC) Adult Literacy Division held its commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.   One hundred seventy-five (175) students completed their GED or Adult High School Diploma and were recognized during this celebration.   Sixty-seven (67) of the graduates were denoted as honor graduates.

“Some students overcome many obstacles before they can reach their first basic educational goal,” commented Kathy Gardner, Associate Dean, Literacy and Academic Support.  “We’re making a genuine difference in people’s lives, and we recognize that learning has benefits for the students involved, as well as their families, and their communities,” added Kathy.
