SCC’s Carolina Auction Academy Wins State Contest

(January 28, 2008) Carolina Auction Academy (CAA), a division of Stanly Community College (SCC), recently won a state contest for an informative television show.  The show aired on Stanly County’s local Channel 7 with CAA Instructors Bill and Betty O’Neal as moderators and special guest Ted Hinson, owner, Hinson Auction House, Oakboro, North Carolina.  The show focused on the auction method of marketing and changes that have taken place over the last forty years in the auctioneering profession.

Mark Sample, Director of Media Services at SCC explains, “The production was entered in the Auctioneer Association of North Carolina’s (AANC) annual advertising contest.  All entries are judged by a private marketing company out of Greensboro, North Carolina.  The production won “Best of Category” in the Radio/TV/Audio Visual category.”

“Mark did a great job producing the show for us, which aired throughout the month of December.  Several students have contacted us with interest in CAA after watching the show air,” commented Betty O’Neal, Director of SCC’s Business Resource Center.  “Auctioneering is a rising billion dollar industry, and CAA is one of only three licensed schools in North Carolina to train professional auctioneers.

The academy is accredited by NCALB—North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board— and South Carolina Auctioneer Commission.  CAA is committed to providing you with professional instructors and a variety of opportunities to prepare you to take the state NCALB exam and enter the auction profession.  If you would like more information about CAA, please feel free to call (704) 991-0200 or email caa@stanly.edu or visit our website at www.stanly.edu.
