(January 4, 2008) Stanly Community College students recently completed the Phlebotomy course. This 180-hour course, consisting of 60 hours of lecture/lab and 120 hours of clinical experience, teaches students proper techniques of venipuncture and blood collection.
This course also addresses the phlebotomist’s role in the health care system, medical terminology, anatomy, documentation, and universal infection control precautions. Students must pass the didactic portion of the course in order to proceed to the clinical experience.
