Students Graduate from Carolina Auction Academy

(November 29, 2007) Stanly Community College (SCC), Carolina Auction Academy (CAA), held its fifth graduating class on November 26. Students from a wide variety of backgrounds and locations were in attendance to receive their diplomas.

SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor presented diplomas to the students and encouraged them to "make us proud" when they take the state exam. CAA has enjoyed an extremely high passing rate on the state exam since it opened in 2005.  This years’ student auction, held at Hinson's Auction Barn, Oakboro, North Carolina raised over $1,000 for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Classmates elect two special awards each term, the Most Improved and the Best All Around. Libby Thompson of Albemarle, North Carolina, won the Most Improved; and Randy Jackson from Monroe, North Carolina. won the Best All Around.

CAA consists of nine excellent instructors and is accredited by the North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board and the South Carolina Auctioneer Commission.  The next class begins January 24, 2008.  Classes meet on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the Crutchfield Education Center located in Locust.

Student evaluations say this is a great course for personal development, even if you don't want to become an auctioneer.    For more information about Carolina Auction Academy, please contact CAA Instructor Betty O’Neal at (704) 991-0142 or eoneal8048@stanly.edu or visit our website at www.stanly.edu.
