SCC Hosts Tourism Seminar

(October 10, 2007) Stanly Community College’s Small Business Center (SBC) will be hosting a seminar entitled "Tourism Dollars in the Stanly Economy" featuring Doug Stafford, Partner, Griffin Stafford, LLC, as the keynote speaker.  Doug will address such assets as vineyards, agricultural tourism, outdoor recreation, and natural resources and their impact on the local economy.

Partnering with the SBC and presenting at the seminar are: Chris Lambert, Executive Director, Stanly County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB); Tom Ramseur, President and CEO, Stanly County Chamber of Commerce; and Robert Van Geons, Executive Director, Stanly County Economic Development Commission.  There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions of the members of the local panel.

“We are excited that Doug Stafford will be discussing tourism in Stanly County.  He brings with him a wealth of information regarding the tourism industry,” remarked SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor.  “Stanly County is growing rapidly and tourism will be with us for a very long time. We must take full advantage of our benefits in a shifting market. By working together at all levels in Stanly County, not only will it promote our state and regional tourism operators but everyone else along the way,” added Taylor.

The seminar will be held on Wednesday, November 7, in the Kelley Building—Dennis Auditorium (SCC Albemarle Campus) from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. This is a free seminar to the public.
