(September 11, 2007) Ashley Smith has joined the staff at Stanly Community College as Assistant to the President. She assumed this role on August 1 with the retirement of Ann Kiser, who had served as Executive Assistant to the three Presidents the college has had since its charter in 1971.
Mrs. Smith was formerly the Vice President of Memberships and Communications for the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Albemarle High School and Wingate University with a B. S. in Human Services. She worked with U.S. Congressman Robin Hayes as a constituent liaison in his Concord Congressional Office from 1999-2003.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a fine institution like SCC. I look forward to working for the President, the Board of Trustees, and with the students,” commented Mrs. Smith.
SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor noted, "We are extremely fortunate to employ someone with Ashley's background in this position. She brings a wealth of talent and experiences in this community to the college."
