(April 17, 2008) Stanly Community College announced the winners of the Second Annual Art Show during the opening reception held on April 9th on the Albemarle campus. Every year, the college encourages students, faculty, and staff to participate in the show.
The 2008 winners include: Best of Show: Gabe Simonds-Just Let Throw; President’s Choice: Robert Cook-In the Line of Fire; Second Place: Maggs-Bullhorn; Third Place: Robert Cook-To the Rescue; Arts Guild Award: Michael Wadkins-Butterfly Cavern; Honorable Mentions: Lisa Almond-Autumn in Wyoming; James Cotton-Stairs to Nowhere; Bryan DeCastro-Taj Mahal; Gabe Simonds-Tapping into the Unreal; Kari VanHoy-Barney.
“It’s incredible to see the wide range of artwork from so many talented people right here in Stanly County,” commented SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor. “Since the inception of the Advertising & Graphics Design degree program in 2005 we have had tremendous support for the art show.”
This artwork, along with many other wonderful pieces, will be on display until April 25, 2008 in the Snyder Building—LRC, located on the Albemarle Campus. We encourage the public to visit the art collection.
