(April 24, 2008) Stanly Community College (SCC) held its fifth annual Stanly Classic Golf Tournament recently at the Tillery Tradition Country Club, located in Mt. Gilead, NC. The event drew 23 teams, and raised scholarship funds that provide educational assistance for SCC students.
“We are very grateful to all our tournament sponsors and participants,” remarked SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor. “Their generosity raised over $30,000 for our student scholarship funds. This makes a tremendous difference in the life of a student who would not otherwise be able to obtain a college education,” added Dr. Taylor.
The 2008 Golf committee members are: Co-Chairs Ron Swanner and Whit Whitley; Members: Paul Childress, Dick Clayton, David Ford, Banks Garrison, David Horton, John Montgomery, and Dr. Toby Webb.
