Students who wish to change their major must come to Student Development, Room 117, Patterson Building to pick up their IDEAS Change of Program packet and to be scheduled for an individualized program change session. Prior to the scheduled session, students should complete the IDEAS interest inventory and the college's Request for Change in Curriculum Program form (with advisor's signature). Please notify Andra Bennett, Coordinator of Special Services, at (704) 991-0214 or by email at abennett9422@stanly.edu if the scheduled session needs to be changed.
Distance learning students may complete the Change in Curriculum Program form and mail the form to Andra Bennett, Coordinator of Special Services, 141 College Drive, Albemarle, NC 28001 or fax to (704) 991-0255.
Each session provides information on how changing majors impacts financial aid eligibility and how to use career information and interest test results to choose an appropriate major at Stanly Community College. Federal financial aid guidelines (PELL, loans, scholarships, etc.) have changed, and students can lose eligibility for financial aid if they change majors frequently, if most of their prior classes do not transfer to their new major, or if they do not complete at least two-thirds of the classes attempted at SCC.
