*A photo ID must be presented for entrance to a testing session. Examples of appropriate identification include: driver's license, military ID, school ID, passport, or a Resident Alien Card (green card).
Placement testing is required for all programs leading to an associate degree or diploma at Stanly Community College. Special credit students, however, may be required to take the placement test depending on the course(s) that they intend to take. The decision on placement testing for special credit students will be made on an individual basis by the Admissions Office.
Stanly Community College now offers two options for placement testing: ASSET and COMPASS.
To schedule for testing, call (704) 991-0226 (Albemarle campus) or (704) 888-8848 (Crutchfield campus). Test takers are encouraged to review the practice test prior to taking the ASSET TEST. Practice tests may be obtained by calling the above numbers. Test takers may also prepare in the STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER. Please call (704) 991-0210 for additional Student Success Center information.
It is necessary for students to sign up for testing. There is limited seating available in testing rooms.
Testing will begin promptly at the times indicated. Test takers may not use dictionaries or reference materials. A calculator will be provided for the Elementary Algebra section of ASSET and the Prealgebra and Algebra sections of COMPASS.
