In September 2003, the Crutchfield Education Center opened in Locust, NC. This 33,000 square foot facility was named for Edward E. Crutchfield, a Stanly County native and retired CEO of Wachovia Bank. The center is now home for our Allied Health programs and the regionally recognized
Carolina Auction Academy.

Dr. Michael R. Taylor was president from 1996-2011.

During the 1990's, Stanly Online (distance learning) was developed offering a variety of degrees, certificates and diplomas to students, completely online.

Stanly Early College began in 2006 on the Albemarle Campus.

The College received nearly eight million dollars of grant funding that upgraded and initiated new programs ranging from health to technology.
