Stanly Community College is committed to providing effective and relevant instruction and to ensuring the proper oversight of its academic programs to satisfy the mission of the college. The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) and the Associate Vice Presidents will annually monitor the percentage of course sections taught by full-time faculty members within each curriculum program and academic discipline, disaggregated by delivery method. Should the percentage of course sections taught by full-time faculty members drop below 50% within a curriculum program or academic division, the VPAA and appropriate AVP will investigate to determine the reason and the potential impact on the program’s ability to support the mission and goals of the institution. If appropriate, the VPAA will recommend to the President that an additional full-time faculty member be hired. The President will approve or deny the request based on College priorities and funding availability.
All curriculum program/department heads will be full-time faculty members. Temporary exceptions to this requirement must be approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
