AMIT Campaign Accepts $20,000 from For Stanly, Inc.

Stanly Community College (SCC) received a $20,000 donation from For Stanly, Inc. in support of its Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Technology (AMIT) Phase II campaign.

SCC is seeking to raise funding dollars for major renovations to the existing Annex Building located on the Albemarle campus. The funds will be utilized by the College in order to create and expand training programs for Industrial Automation, Heavy Equipment, and Industrial Systems Controls. The check was presented to the president of the College, Dr. Brenda Kays, by Mr. Bill Lawhon, Chairman, For Stanly, Inc.

For Stanly, Inc. is a private, non-profit community development initiative in Stanly County. The organization was formed in 1995 through contributions from individuals and corporations interested in “creating jobs for Stanly County.” For Stanly, Inc. has been instrumental in driving several economic development projects in the county since its inception in 1995 including: purchasing land for the creation of an industrial park, attracting regional developers to invest in Stanly County, relocation incentives for prospective industry, and widening the entrance to Airport Road from Highway 740 to permit large trucks to access the airport as well as the Prime Power Park.
