Taylor Fraley feels that accomplishments are not made by taking one giant step, but are acquired by taking many steps along the way. Taylor, a recent graduate in Exercise and Sports Science from UNC-Chapel Hill, attributes a lot of his success to the preparation he received from the Transfer Program at Stanly Community College (SCC).
According to Taylor, “SCC is a place that I hold dear to my heart. They prepared me for the rigors of a university with their outstanding curriculum and my contributions within the Ambassadors program, Student Government Association, and working in the Student Success Center. At SCC, they made me not only feel like a student, but also as if I were family.”
SCC President Dr. Brenda Kays appreciates his kind words. “When I received Taylor’s email advising me that he had graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, I was thrilled about his accomplishment. Knowing that he credits Stanly Community College with establishing the firm foundation on which his current success was built is a testament to the quality education programming and services offered by our dedicated faculty and staff.”
Additionally, Taylor ascribes another form of success by not having an enormous student loan burden by going to SCC. Taylor estimates that he saved nearly $20,000 per year by going to SCC first and then transferring to UNC-Chapel Hill. The best part of his education at SCC was that nearly all his classes transferred.
The North Carolina Community College System and the University of North Carolina system have signed a new Comprehensive Articulation Agreement that makes it easier for Stanly Community College students to transfer classes to a North Carolina university.
