Students in the Digital Photography Certificate program at Stanly Community College (SCC) recently completed their training. A graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 20, on the Albemarle Campus in the Whitley Technology Center. Students gave visual storytelling presentations during the ceremony and a reception and photography exhibit followed.
The Digital Photography Certificate program is designed to deliver students with knowledge and skills necessary to work independently or assist professionals in various areas of photography. Students received training in the photographic techniques specific to portraiture and visual storytelling and portfolio design. Coursework included in-depth study of location techniques, lighting, digital imaging, retouching, and layout design. Additional topics included the study of sports, features and photo stories.
This year, students were able to visit the Albemarle Opera House, Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, Latta Plantation, Red Cross crossroads, Salisbury, Oakboro Cruise-in, and Concord Memorial Gardens over the course of the program.
