Cutting costs, improving efficiency and preserving quality are the goals of Yellow Belt trainees. Yellow Belt training is part of a continuous improvement strategy that is taking place at International Automotive Component (IAC) Group North America, Inc. (Albemarle location). IAC employees recently completed their Yellow Belt Certification through Stanly Community College's (SCC) customized training and learned the basics of the Lean Six Sigma Methodology. Yellow Belt courses teach individuals to solve production problems and offer contributions to larger company projects as a vital team member.
SCC President Dr. John Enamait recently toured the IAC facility to get a better understanding of the company's operations. "In today's economy, it's vital for companies to have a competitive edge. Our business and industry training programs can enhance a company's business operations while sustaining a highly-skilled workforce," he noted.
For more than 50 years, North Carolina's community colleges have supported business and industry with customized training. North Carolina was the first in the nation to deliver company-specific instruction as a component of the state's economic development efforts. Today, Stanly Community College continues this strong tradition through collaborative partnerships. Companies require continual access to a talented and qualified workforce. SCC's Business and Industry Training Program is geared to train that workforce to exhibit a productive and innovative culture that ensures success.
"Congratulations to IAC employees that completed their Yellow Belt Certification Training that was provided by Stanly Community College," said Terry Birdsong, Human Resources Manager for IAC Group, Albemarle Plant. "The smallest changes, whether implemented on the production floor or in shipping and receiving, can add up to a big difference," he said.
