What Robert Patterson likes most about his career as a Real Estate Owner/Broker is being able to show customers lake homes by boat. "Buyers love to see how beautiful Lake Tillery is," he said. Robert is a retired Stanly County principal and loves every bit of his second career as a Real Estate Broker and Co-Owner of My Lake Home Realty, LLC, in Norwood. "It's very gratifying to be able to help people find their perfect home."
Robert explained that going back to school for real estate training was a family decision. "My son Austin and I took our training at Stanly Community College (SCC) together so we could start a family real estate business, along with my son-in-law, Michael Shelton, co-owner of the business, and the one who had the idea to start the company in the first place."
Robert made a commitment to himself and his family to learn all the materials needed to pass the North Carolina Licensing Exam. "Be prepared to study in all your spare time and be ready to give a 100% effort. You get out an equal proportion to what you put in," he explained. The convenience of training locally was a key factor when Robert chose SCC, and he brags about how instrumental the instructors were to his success. "SCC's instructors were excellent! They helped me much more than just passing the state and national exams. They used their real estate experience to teach real life lessons to help us avoid potential mistakes. I can remember many of the stories of pitfalls in real estate and it has helped me to avoid mistakes for me and my clients," he added.
He enjoys being in a position to bring other realtors into the business and helping them succeed. "We have three new brokers who have joined our firm, Doug Smith, a retired teacher, coach, and principal; Jamey Evans, who teaches at West Stanly Middle School; and Blake Bostic, Dean of Administrative and Facilities Services at Stanly Community College. It has been my pleasure to recruit and hire these talented individuals to help My Lake Home Realty, LLC become successful."
Stanly Community College, Real Estate Pre- and Post-Licensing Instructor, Betty O'Neal, said, "I met Robert before he enrolled in our Real Estate program and have enjoyed watching him expand. It was exciting to see he had hired not one but three of our recent Real Estate graduates to work with him."
My Lake Home Realty, LLC, is a full service real estate company helping customers buy and sell homes and properties throughout Stanly, Montgomery, and Cabarrus counties.
