Stanly Community College (SCC) established the Faculty of the Year Award to provide recognition of the College’s teachers who exemplify the highest quality and standards. The outstanding award recipient is chosen by his or her peers within his or her respective divisions. Decisive factors for eligibility include dedication and skill for their profession, outstanding leadership qualities, and excellent performance and commitment to the community college mission.
Mr. John Lynden, Computer Technology Instructor at the School of Business and Technology, received the 2015 Faculty of the Year Award. Mr. Lynden earned his Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University; a Master of Science from Oakland University; and is a 2017 candidate for a Ph.D., from Nova Southeastern University, where he is currently studying Computer Information Systems and Security.
Mr. Lynden taught at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College prior to joining SCC in August 2013. His technology career has spanned over the last eighteen years as a computer programmer in the banking and marketing industries. As part of the Faculty of the Year Award, individuals receive a check for $250; Mr. Lynden donated his to the SCC Foundation for student scholarships.
