SCC Cisco Academy Support Center (ASC) earns Premier+ status

Stanly Community College's (SCC) Cisco Academy Support Center (ASC) has obtained the status of Premier+ in the ASC rewards program for the year running August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016. SCC demonstrated a 10.3 percent growth in class participants at the academies they support and through their own local academy.

The Cisco Networking Academy program is an e-learning model that teaches networking and other informational technology skills utilizing web-based educational content, online testing, student performance tracking, hands-on labs and instructor training and support.

The Cisco Networking Academy began at SCC in the Fall of 1998. From its inception, SCC has been involved in teaching student classes locally, providing instructor training classes and offering support for other Cisco Academies. Initially, SCC's Regional Academy provided support for 10 academies in the central NC area. It has grown to support 140 academies in 7 states. Currently, SCC's Academy Support Center serves 140 Cisco Networking Academies in high schools, community colleges and universities throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Additionally, SCC's local classes allow Stanly County residents to obtain advanced information technology training. In the last 12 months, the 140 Cisco Networking Academies supported by SCC's Academy Support Center have served 19,502 students.

"I am thrilled at this accomplishment and recognition of the hard work and expertise by our SCC Cisco ASC team," stated Dr. John Enamait, president of SCC. "I have been told that we are only 1 of 4 Premier+ support centers in the Americas. Globally, there are a total of 483 centers; only 29 of these centers have achieved this designation. Being in the top 6% of training centers in the world clearly demonstrates that Stanly County and Stanly Community College have established themselves to be global leaders in technology and technology training."
