Stanly Community College (SCC) will hold its annual commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 21, at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle. Three separate ceremonies will be held throughout the day to accommodate nearly 500 students who will receive degrees, diplomas, and certificates during this special day. The ceremonies are scheduled for noon, 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
At noon, the following programs will graduate: Accounting, Advertising and Graphic Design, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Business Administration, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Information Technology, Cosmetology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Heavy Equipment Operator, Industrial Systems Technology/Machining-Welding, Information Systems-Security, Networking Technology, Simulation and Game Development, Telecommunications and Network Engineering Technology.
At 3:00 p.m., the following programs will graduate: Associate Degree Nursing, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy Technology, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Human Services Technology.
At 6:00 p.m., the following programs will graduate: Adult High School/High School Equivalency, Stanly Early College, Early Childhood Associate, School Age Education, Criminal Justice Technology, and Cyber Crime Technology.
In addition to conferring degrees on students from adult high school through the associate degree level, the College will also present the following awards: the Outstanding Alumni Award; the Annie Ruth Kelley Student Leadership Award; the Dr. George E. Eddins Jr. Award of Distinction in Allied Health Education; the Dianne H. Burton Community Service Award; the Edward J. Snyder Jr. Exceptional Scholars Award; and the Shirley Dennis Award.
The guest speakers for the ceremonies will be adult high school/high school equivalency and curriculum students. Each ceremony will be available for viewing on SCC-TV Time Warner Cable Channel 21 and the College’s website after May 28.
