Albemarle, NC – On Saturday, February 15, Stanly Community College (SCC) cosmetology students volunteered to provide free haircuts, hairstyling, make-up, and nail services to dozens of individuals for the Annual Sweetheart Dance. The services were performed at the Morton-Moffitt Cosmetology Center (MMCC), on the Albemarle campus, under the supervision of SCC instructors.

The Pine Grove United Methodist Church sponsors the Annual Sweetheart Dance for individuals with disabilities from GHA Autism Supports, Monarch, Elite Care Services, and individuals who live independently.

David Smith, Cosmetology Program Head at Stanly Community College, stated, “For the past seven years, SCC students have donated their time on a Saturday, around Valentine’s Day, to provide free services to such deserving individuals. It is so rewarding to watch our students interact and help those individuals feel beautiful and special. We are honored to be a part of this special event and to be able to give back to our community in such a sweet way.”
