SCC Grad Lands Job as a CNC Machinist
Chris Price works on a lathe in the machining lab at Stanly Community College.
The Welding program at Stanly Community College (SCC) first sparked interest for Chris Price. After obtaining certificates in Welding and Machining, Chris went on to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in Industrial Systems Technology, graduating in May of 2016.
Mr. Price is employed as a full-time Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist for Loflin Fabrication, where his job is to operate CNC machines. "I love my job," comments Chris. "I get to work with great people and for a great company. It’s also nice to be able to work in an air conditioned environment."
Chris felt the classes in AMIT (Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology) area were the most fun because it was something he wanted to do and he enjoyed learning it. He stated the instructors for AMIT classes were helpful and always willing to go the extra mile.
