Stanly Community College (SCC) will be hosting a Career Fair on Tuesday, March 22, in the Webb Student Center on the Albemarle campus. The fair will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and is open to students and the general public. SCC and ResCare Workforce Services will be offering free workshops to help individuals with their resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and more.
The Resume, Cover Letter, and Interviewing Skills workshop is scheduled for March 15 and 17 in the Eddins Building, Room 114, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A panel discussion, Best Practices to Gain Employment, is scheduled for March 16 in the Dennis Community Room in the Patterson Building, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The College will also be hosting a Career Boot Camp with orientation scheduled for April 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The class runs April 5 through the 26, (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will be taught at the Albemarle Housing Authority. All events are free for students and the general public to attend.
"The College Career Fair is a great opportunity for our students to learn more about career fields and network with potential employers," noted Marcus Pryor, Assistant Dean of Students and Career Placement for SCC. "We invite anyone seeking employment to come by and visit or attend the free workshops. Please dress in appropriate business attire and bring plenty of resumes to share with employers."
Stanly Community College has become a vital resource to the community for career and workforce development. Programs are strategically planned to provide state-of-the-art training that deliver success in today's workforce. Get the Skills and Get the Job are useful sections located on the Career Center web portal on the College's website that features job search videos, beneficial tips for resumes and interviews, along with the latest information on job fairs, business expos and free seminars.
The website also contains a Job Portal where employers can list openings in their company and students can post their resumes and search for employment. In addition, SCC offers a Human Resource Development class for those wishing to learn additional job seeking/job keeping skills, and the fee is waived for those that qualify.
Business representatives attending the Career Fair will include public and private employers, large and small businesses, and those located inside and outside of Stanly County.
