On May 11, 2015, after nearly 18 months of development, Stanly Community College unveiled its website redesign. “We are extremely excited about our redesign and hope that consumers find it user friendly,” noted Joel Allen, Director of Enterprise Applications at SCC. “Our website team has worked very hard to design features that will transform a user’s experience, particularly on mobile devices.”
Mr. Allen described an important change that a user will notice—the “My Page” feature. The My Page feature is a dashboard experience built to facilitate enhanced online student services including online advising. This feature is intuitive and is attached to back-end servers with data preparation capabilities that join various sources. “It organizes and presents information in a way that is easy for our users to access,” said Mr. Allen.
Additional features on the website have been added to educate a diverse audience on what Stanly Community College has to offer. “We made an effort to provide our users with a site that communicates messages quickly, concisely, and effectively,” said Mr. Allen. “We needed to be able to cater to all styles of learning, while providing our users with a relevant experience too.”
Much focus was given to improve and enhance SCC’s online student services through a 24/7 ticket-based support system via Freshdesk™, a 24/7 tutoring support service through Smarthinking©, a 24/7 proctored online testing support service through Respondus© Lockdown Browser and Monitor, as well as the improved student dashboard.
In 2013, SCC was awarded a Title III grant that has enabled web portal development and improvements to facilitate web assisted learning environments. These features are essential in helping to strengthen the experience of our online students. We encourage visitors to see all the updated features and redesign by visiting www.stanly.edu.
